IASIS Focus on Quality

IASIS Focus on Quality

Patients and their families know and understand the meaning of quality healthcare. The attitude and responsiveness of their nurse, the doctor’s bedside manner, the overall appearance and cleanliness of the hospital and provider offices are all factors that influence how a patient feels about the quality of their healthcare experience.

Delivering affordable healthcare at the highest level of quality is the top priority of IASIS Healthcare Services. We participate in many state and national initiatives focused on improving healthcare outcomes, and have engaged numerous processes and strategies specific to our system to create a quality infrastructure that aligns our clinical practice, quality and financial operations.

IASIS Quality Initiatives

Hospital Medical Management and Quality Program (HMMQP):

As part of our commitment to operational excellence and the delivery of safe, quality healthcare, IASIS implemented a quality infrastructure to continually improve our clinical operations and value to consumers of our healthcare services. The HMMQP is rooted in evidence-based medicine obtained from within IASIS, healthcare providers, and scholars to maximize efficiencies and improve patient outcomes and experience. Key areas of focus for this program include:

 Patient and caregiver centered experience of care
 Clinical care process and outcome guidelines, including standardized order sets and information technology support tools
 Mortality
 Preventable readmissions
 Care coordination and transitions of care
 Patient safety
 Identification and prevention of hospital acquired conditions, including infection
 Resource/cost efficiency management
 Clinical documentation improvement
 Regulatory and accreditation continuous readiness assessment

STAR Power Customer Service Program:

A number of years ago, IASIS Healthcare introduced a formal, system wide customer service program called STAR (Service, Teamwork, Accountability, and Recognition) Power, designed to promote continuous patient experience improvement through the adoption of an organization-wide customer service culture. Components of the STAR Power program include the implementation of customer service initiatives such as scripting, rounding, ongoing training and employee recognition.

IASIS utilizes JLMorgan and Associates to conduct timely patient satisfaction surveys. The telephone calling methodology coupled with faster survey reporting turn-around time, allows the opportunity for quicker service recovery and patient experience results back to the employees.

Clinical Discharge Call Back Program:

IASIS recognizes the importance of supporting the discharge planning process and the need for patient engagement and communication post hospitalization. To this end, we implemented the Clinical Discharge Call Back Program for patients to ensure a smooth transition of care from hospital to home. The Clinical Discharge Call Back Program has made a significant impact on several areas of patient care including a reduction in readmissions and improvement in the patient experience. This companywide program has made discharge calls a seamless, yet essential component supporting the communication and patient participation in the transition and discharge process.
